Presenting a MARBEL-related poster during the Life Cycle Assessment Symposium of SETAC Europe

MARBEL researchers have presented the poster “Unified approach of the environmental and economic assessment for EVs Li-ion batteries on a circular economy perspective” during the 25th Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Symposium organised by the SETAC Europe in a virtually format from 12th – 14th of October.

The poster, which is produced under the framework of the MARBEL project, introduces two different scopes developed to determine the environmental and economic performance of the project’s technology compared with current commercial solutions. Specially, the work presents the path to follow in the application of both methodologies, LCA and LCC throughout MARBEL’s and in general battery packs’ environmental and economic assessments.

The work presented was produced by M. Violeta Vargas-Parra, José Jorge Espí and Frederic Clarens from the Waste, Energy and Environmental Unit of Eurecat, and Gabriela Benveniste, Anna Sánchez, Víctor José Ferreira, Tomás Montes and Cristina Corchero, from IREC – Catalonia Institute for Energy Research.

The SETAC Europe 25th LCA Symposium was focused on showcasing case studies, with special emphasis on LCA topics, that evaluate and support changes within the actual model of trade, consumption and production towards a more sustainable and circular one regarding raw materials. The programme of the event presented different scientific sessions covering the most important economic sectors and interest areas such as industry, building, mobility, energy, bioeconomy and waste/wastewater, and include sustainability, circularity and criticality as the main dimensions for the analysis.
