MARBEL project featured at the Battery Innovation Days 2024
Partners from Eurecat, the project’s coordinator, and IREC attended the Battery Innovation Days, the annual conference dedicated to battery research and innovation. Hosted by ACCIÓ – Agency for Business Competitiveness supported by the Government of Catalonia – this year’s edition took place in Barcelona and online on November 26 – 27, 2024.
At BATTECH’s booth, visitors were introduced to the MARBEL project and its efforts in manufacturing the next generation of battery packs for the automotive industry. The project focuses on developing an innovative and competitive lightweight battery to accelerate the mass-market take-up of electric and hybrid vehicles.
BATTECH is a joint research and innovation flagship research unit designed to cover the whole of Southern Europe’s battery ecosystem R&D&I. Created in collaboration with IREC and Eurecat, the centre encompasses research, development and innovation across the entire value chain of the next generation of electric cells and batteries for the electric mobility, renewable energy and capital goods markets.
Additionally, MARBEL project was also featured at the COLLABAT cluster’s booth alongside other EU-funded projects including ALBATROSS, HELIOS and LIBERTY. These projects, all funded under the topic LC-BAT-10-2020 “Next generation and realisation of battery packs for BEV and PHEV”, aim to foster synergies in the field of battery technology to boost the development of sustainable, advanced manufacturing capabilities in Europe.
The Battery Innovation Days is organized by the Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA), Batteries Europe, IPCEI Batteries, and BATTERY2030+. The event serves as a platform for fostering dialogue between the research community, policymakers, industry leaders, and end-users, ensuring valuable feedback to drive innovation in the sector.
