MARBEL participates in the next-generation battery discussion at the European RTR Conference
On February 13, the MARBEL project took stage at the European RTR (Results from Road Transport Research) conference in Brussels, recognized as an international meeting point for transport experts in Europe.
MARBEL participated in the session “Next generation battery packs for BEV and PHEV”, driven by the Batteries European Partnership Association (BEPA). The discussion also was attended by representatives from LIBERTY, Albatross, and HELIOS — three projects focused on enhancing battery safety, optimizing fast charging, and exploring second-life applications.
Together with MARBEL, these projects constitute the COLLABAT cluster, aiming to boost awareness regarding the research outcomes and promote technology transfer across relevant stakeholders, such as academia, vehicle OEMs and the entire Electric Vehicle’s battery supply chain.
MARBEL was presented by project coordinator Eduard Piqueras from Eurecat Technology Centre, highlighting the mid- and long-term impacts of the project. MARBEL aims to advance the manufacturing and assembly of modular, reusable EV batteries that are both environmentally friendly and lightweight.
In addition to the battery-centric session, the SELFY project, also coordinated by Eurecat was highlighted for its innovative self-assessment, self-protection, and self-healing tools designed to support Cooperative Connected Autonomous Mobility (CCAM). Meanwhile, FlexCrash —another Eurecat-coordinated project— presented its work in flexible and hybrid manufacturing techniques using high-strength aluminum alloys, aiming to produce vehicle structures better able to adapt to and tolerate collisions.
The annual European RTR conference brings together research organizations, companies, and public administrations to share the latest advancements in transport innovation, fostering collaboration, accelerating the deployment of new technologies, and encouraging the shift toward more efficient, sustainable mobility solutions.
