Eurecat disseminates MARBEL during an Innovation Brunch on Electric Vehicles batteries recycling organised by HubB30
MARBEL technical coordinator Alberto Gómez, from Eurecat, presented the project during the Innovation Brunch “Reuse and recycling of Electric Vehicles batteries”, organised by the HubB30 network on April 22nd in Barcelona (Spain).
The event had the objective to discuss the main key trends, opportunities and challenges in the Electric Vehicles battery reuse and recycling industry, such as the problem of costs, fluctuations in the prices of materials for the batteries production, different designs and chemistry of batteries, collection and transport and, environmental and technological concerns.
During the event, Alberto Gómez presented MARBEL as a key European project promoting eco-design values and developing and designing solutions and processes for the sustainable dismantling and 2nd life reuse of Electric Vehicles batteries.
On the other hand, Gómez talked about the BATTECH initiative, a joint research and innovation unit designed to cover the whole of Southern Europe’s battery ecosystem R&D&I. Created in collaboration with IREC and Eurecat, the centre encompasses research, development and innovation across the entire value chain of the next generation of electric cells and batteries for the electric mobility with the objective to solve current and future challenges related the 2nd life and batteries recycling.
The HubB30 is an open innovation network created to promote collaboration, economic development and social cohesion in the Catalan territory.
