SINTEF is one of Europe’s largest independent research organizations with 2000 employees and a turnover of 330 million € in 2018. SINTEF is an independent non-commercial organization. In 2018, SINTEF supported the development of more than 3500 companies via research and development in materials technology, applied chemistry, biotechnology, technology management and other fields.
Contract research carried out by SINTEF covers all scientific and technical areas, and ranges from basic research through applied research to commercialization of results into new products and business ideas.
SINTEF long experience in experimental characterization and numerical modelling processes and properties for metallic materials. They have substantial laboratory infrastructures for small-scale and large-scale testing and verification of materials and components.
Contribution to MARBEL
As expert in welding and integrity of metallic materials and components subjected to fatigue and corrosion, SINTEF will contribute to getting increased strength in aluminium welds and joints by developing welding procedures and joining principles with significantly improved strength with respect to current standards.
