D8.5 Replicability of MARBEL results - Full report

MARBEL has successfully demonstrated how early integration of eco-design actions can lead to meaningful environmental, economic, and circularity improvements in next-generation battery packs for electric mobility. Through a series of targeted actions across multiple components—ranging from material selection and modular design to digital battery management, MARBEL has achieved measurable sustainability gains, including significant reductions in carbon emissions, improved resource efficiency, and enhanced end-of-life recoverability.

Quantitative life cycle assessments (LCA) and qualitative evaluations have confirmed the effectiveness of these innovations. Moreover, to ensure these innovations can be scaled and transferred across the automotive value chain, this deliverable also maps MARBEL’s results onto relevant regulatory and standardization frameworks. By doing so, the project ensures that its contributions are not only environmentally sound but also verifiable, comparable, and ready for integration in real-world industry and policy contexts.

Together, the eco-design evaluation and regulatory alignment form the core of MARBEL’s replicability approach. This dual perspective ensures that MARBEL’s technical advances can serve as a model for future developments, supporting a more sustainable, circular, and competitive battery ecosystem in Europe.
