In this report a roadmap that addresses the environmental hotspots of car batteries is shown. Materials and processes with the greatest environmental impacts are identified and the consequent general eco-design strategies aligned to decrease these environmental carriers are described for each of the stages analysed: Production (materials and chemistry), Use (charging system, thermal management-BMS, driving cycle), and End of life (2nd Eol, final EoL). Having into account all of them, a conceptualized battery design based in both technical and environmental dimensions with specific actions to be deployed along the project and special emphasis in recycling options is included.
